The AUSTOX Urine Toxicology Proficiency Program is both a qualitative and quantitative scheme designed to test the competence of laboratories engaged in drug testing. Participants in AUSTOX come from hospital, forensic, specialised and private drug testing facilities throughout Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, UK and Ireland.

AUSTOX is administered by The Toxicology Unit, Pacific Laboratory Medicine Services, and is Australia's principal dedicated drug testing facility. The Unit is the New South Wales reference facility for drug screening and undertakes drug testing for clinical, workplace and medico-legal purposes.
